Posted by jimbo500 on Tuesday, 6 July 2010, at 2:50 p.m., ethan and lorne, thanx for the feedback and thoughts. i hadn't considered the psychological consequences/effects. moisture removal and seemingly 'cold' air in the winter. my challenge, then, is to find a way to get colder in the summer to remove moisture and warmer in the winter so it 'feels' warmer. hmmmm. making cool or heat in a newly built structure is much easier, build it to face south, insulation, solar cupula, et al. :-) i have to come up w/ something that can be easily removed from a building, like a window unit of some sort. if anything occurs to yall, please email me: jimbo500 at copper.net. again thanx,

This site is all about building a cool, energy efficient house, that makes maximum use of earth sheltered design, passive solar heating and cooling, geothermal exchange energy management, and right sizing of the house for it's designated use. The home's placement is on a south-facing hillside in Deep Creek Lake, Maryland. This site describes the design process, the technologies used and the expected results. We also have a comprehensive Links Page for anyone who is also interested in designing a similar project. |
