Scoring Stained Concrete [ Read Responses | Post a New Response | Return to the Index ]
Posted by Laura Andrews on Wednesday, 16 June 2010, at 12:18 a.m. I really like your idea of using masking tape to "score" the stained concrete. I am turned off to the idea of actually scoring the concrete. My husband and I are hoping to stain our concrete floors in a few weeks. I really want to create designs with scoring, but my husband is worried that the tape will not keep the acid out fully - thus resulting in splotchy lines. Did you have this problem at all? What tape did you use for the scoring (as many specifics as you remember would be helpful)? How exactly did you clean the floors prior to placing the tape? Did you learn any helpful skills along the way (i.e. ways to make the tape lines straight, how to ensure the tape was firmly stuck, etc.)? Whatever advice you (or others!) have would be helpful. Thanks for posting about your experience. Hopefully our staining project will go smoothly. Responses

This site is all about building a cool, energy efficient house, that makes maximum use of earth sheltered design, passive solar heating and cooling, geothermal exchange energy management, and right sizing of the house for it's designated use. The home's placement is on a south-facing hillside in Deep Creek Lake, Maryland. This site describes the design process, the technologies used and the expected results. We also have a comprehensive Links Page for anyone who is also interested in designing a similar project. |
