Posted by Bill - WEL0043 on Wednesday, 26 May 2010, at 9:49 a.m., Stuart, if the rest of your network isn't an outragious distance total, check these things: 1. All cable is exactly the same type, i.e., CAT5e. What's not so important is what type (5, 5e, 6, bell wire, etc.). What is important is consistency - i.e. all cable pieces are exactly the same cable type, manufacturer, etc. 2. Your network is perfectly linear. If you have a sensor on the end of a 100' segment, make sure this is segment is the last piece of a linear topology. 3. Take an oscilloscope out to the last sensor and look at the waveforms. This can confirm if you have a marginal bus communication challenge or something else. Best regards, Bill Responses Post a New Response
This site is all about building a cool, energy efficient house, that makes maximum use of earth sheltered design, passive solar heating and cooling, geothermal exchange energy management, and right sizing of the house for it's designated use. The home's placement is on a south-facing hillside in Deep Creek Lake, Maryland. This site describes the design process, the technologies used and the expected results. We also have a comprehensive Links Page for anyone who is also interested in designing a similar project. |
